Caught in the Web

March/April 2010

In keeping with the theme of this issue I’ve searched out useful resources for those of you who are interested in crime. None of the sites are astrological but all are hopefully useful for research.

You'll find lots of information on the true crime site, with criminals ranging from gangsters to serial killers. Be warned that the site is full of advertising but despite that it is full of biographies of criminals and is a useful resource if you have a birth chart to hand. It is in my opinion one of the best resources for information about criminals.

As you may guess from its name Murder UK is a site about British murderers, both past and present. Information about various murderers is listed in sections such as, Child Killers, Female Killers, One Off Killers and Mass Murderers amongst others. The site i.e. useful in that it states dates of birth and dates of crimes. There is enough on this site to keep you busy for a while.

Jack the Ripper is a long held fascination for those interested in serial killers. If you are interested in the Jack the Ripper case the Times archives have a list of articles available, showing how the murders and investigations were reported at the time. This is also a remarkable snapshot of media history.

If you are interested in historical crimes in the UK then check out the Old Bailey Online site. The site contains the proceedings of the Old Bailey from1674-1913 The site states that it is "A fully searchable edition of the largest body of texts detailing the lives of non-elite people ever published, containing 197,745 criminal trials held at London's central criminal court."
