Caught in the Web

November/December 2009

In this issue I've found some more online tools for astrologers. These sites are always handy to know about for those times when you have access to the Internet but not to your favourite astrological software. I've also looked at a couple of online oracles just for the fun of it and for those of you who like a bit of daily guidance with just a click of a mouse button.

Dan Ciubotaru is a Romanian astrologer who has a very useful site with various astrological tools. Configuration Hunter offers you the ability to search for planetary positions, retrograde periods or aspects within a chart or a series of charts. The results are displayed in a table for easy reference. Configuration Hunter can be used on the web or downloaded for free. This is a very useful tool that Dan has made available to the astrological community.

Astrolabe have added an online chart calculator to their website. There is no choice of house systems, or any other in-depth chart calculations and the page is probably designed to sell you their reports, (it comes with a 'mini reading'.) However it is a nice, simple interface and calculates a chart almost instantly. I have found this chart calculator very useful when I am out and about because it is one of the few online calculators that will work when logging in to the Internet from a mobile phone

http://www.byzant.com/Mystical/Tarot
Byzant do a nice range of free online tarot readings each with a choice of familiar spreads and various options as to how you can view the results. The site is worth exploring further because as well as various articles about tarot, there are some introductory astrology articles, some pages about the Kabbalah, and brief biographies of well known historical figures who were known for their interests in mysticism and metaphysics. None of the articles are in-depth but each gives a brief introduction to that particular subject.

Linda Hill has a Sambian Symbol oracle on her website. Just ask your question, click on the picture of the galaxy and up pops a random degree of the zodiac with its associated meaning. As with the Astrolabe site this is designed to encourage you to buy full reports, but of course you don’t have to, so click away for your Sabian guidance and enjoy this little tool
